On this Sunday morning, 3rd one in 2018 – I just have to get this off my chest!! For quite some time, I have been getting more and more disgusted with what come out of Hollywood that has had such a MAJOR influence on masses, not only in the USA but the WORLD! When I was YOUNG and hopeful that I would eventually finally get to produce good entertaining, worthwhile films or TV –God knows I TRIED and NOW WHAT COMES OUT OF HOLLYWOOD IN UNDESCRIBABLE DISGUSTING. WHEN some in congress make such an issue out of ONE word Trump may have said… why don’t they do some thing about this industry! People rise up against guns.. MY GOD WHERE DO THE CRIMINALS LEARN ABOUT COMMITTING CRIME.. JUST WATCH TV – IT IS ALL THERE FOR THEM TO DO AS THEY ARE SHOWN IN TV, NIGHT AFTER NIGHT!! This industry has done far more HARM than good. I am wondering if they must pay celebrities such HIGH SALARIES, they don’t spend it on PRODUCTION!! THIS IS A MAJOR AREA THAT PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY SHOULD BE RISING UP AGAINST!!!
I don’t know if I told you that the unions send me a bunch of new movies to vote on for the SAGAFTRA Award show — although I think it is over now.
2 that were sent are all black cast that I won’t watch as I am so sick of blacks being thrown in our faces ALL the time! I think it was 2 yrs. Ago that there was such an uprising because no Black won an award so since the films/TV had been inundated with them. When is enough-enough placating!!
EVERY MOVIE NOW IS BEING SHOT IN HIDIOUS COLOR – If you can call it “color”!
About 80% or more is so black you cannot see the actors, just hear their voices and when you CAN see it is so dark, dreary gray green is the main color. Here are those shot in this way: The Shape of Water – Lady Bird -THREE BILLBOARDS <– which is another slam toward the Southern states and the people..MO. I think it was. The lead, Frances McDormand was in about every scene and it about her murdered daughter (of course, I could empathize with her!!)it has driven her NUTS –so she took drastic actions - but she will probably get acting award –
I, TONYA – same – mostly disgusting – The Big Sick, House of Cards, Ozark, Master of None were all the hideous dark color, I just would NOT watch them!! Call Me by Your Name began in better COLOR in Italy – but it got into totally BLACK scenes where you hear the voices. Basically a nice looking American – doing archeology or ?? research with the father of a family, including a really screwed up 17 yr old boy that eventually has sex with a girl bit seduced into a gay relationship that takes over is life – I was so disgusted and wanted it to just END for the last HOUR – it seemed to go on for 3 or more hours but better part of TWO. ALL THIS IS PROOF OF WHY I NEVER SEE ANY MOVIES THAT I WANT TO SEE AND WITH GOOD REASON…. IF Screen writers didn’t have “F” – “Mother F” and all sorts of unnecessary language, there would be NO dialogue. OH! I started watching “THE CROWN” which I loved what I saw last year BUT it, too, seems to be in the same dreary color so I didn’t watch it. All of this made me appreciate “The Greatest Showman” EVEN MORE and Judy Dench as “Queen Victoria” story. There were other movies last spring, but frankly can’t remember them so they couldn’t be memorable.. this hideous lack of color has taken over the film industry !! Sad to say!!
SO on this Sunday morning, I feel rather sick at my stomach to SEE what has happened to an industry I did love and wish I could have created entirely different kind of movies or TV shows!! In you young days, the words of that producer who said “GO BACK TO TEXAS, LITTLE GIRL, YOU ARE TOO IDEALISTIC FOR THIS BUSINESS THAT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY!” No more truer words were ever spoken to me as advise!
