Exploring for a group of us to regroup in Ireland…..and connecting families, history, publishing
and the like through education and international citizen science exchanges.
What are you doing? Finding out how similar the findings are from Disney’s choir of soloists
from Frozen 2 to public school structures from the formation of public schools….we do better
by developing young minds through singing, speaking, drama and story telling.
First Five California has Sing, Read and Talk and the three birds of literacy including Melody, the
Blue Bird, encouraging parental involvement in future school success and Potter the Otter.com
whose adventures now come in tri-lingual offerings.
The CommonGroundNI.org Farm is looking for dates for Glamourous Camping, music, poetry,
dance, practicing Gaelic and eco-volunteering. New Education Options is pricing an adventure
trip that is multi-nonprofit exploration in learning how to learn, being creative, and learning
about culture, history and geography in the Land where Game of Thrones was filmed and in a
context of Citizen Science, Project Based Learning, new skills with GLOBE.gov protocols that
build comprehension, self-expression, team work, risk taking and collaboration.
What’s in the Plan? We are preparing to work with new teachers, experienced artists, long
term early care and education specialists with present and past partners that bring our science
explorations with ingredients, temperature, tools, stories, measurements, time, and issues alive
in student e-portfolios and at home along with the Ad Council’s Smokey Bear Campaign
bringing Forest health to families and neighborhoods.
We have green, green hills because of rain and snow melt in Los Angeles and warm weather,
but we will begin to study Soil, Apple Tree blossoms, the Urban Heat Island Effect, and
mosquitoes in the heart of the San Fernando Valley finding out how to save water, create
science journals, grow new oak trees, and upload cloud measurements or precipitation.
What’s new this quarter? I am looking at unique ways to fundraise for children’s after school
programs that help children catch up to their peers, come to safe, rigorous and exciting
programs in their neighborhood school, and explore sound science concepts like the seasons,
our crops, our weather even in an urban setting. We are working with Ruth Elliott, animator,
illustrator and author’s, master art book and now 3 student books that are on the way to India
and Ghana and soon Ecuador. (EDUdesign.org)
We are bringing the concept behind the California Tartan and Covina Bobolinks to the Queen
Mary’s International Highland Games in Long Beach where 29 clans are sharing their heritage.
Our classroom will embrace learning about our state standards and using new tools that range
from small format films; to drawing; to music; to writing, posing questions and learning how to

create a science poster that we may be able to present in Washington for GLOBE’s 25 th
anniversary this Summer 2020, (GLOBE.gov)
It’s going to be hot here this Spring and Summer in So Cal and you might want to buy a sports
kilt from OffKilterKilts.com in Santa Clarita. A kilt is usually a family insignia…this is apparel that
is a state of California insignia like the redwood tree and symbolizes John Muir’s legacy with the
Sierra Club of stewardship, outdoorsmanship, and learning from our habitat.
Any other new endeavors? I’ve discovered that the celtic cultures are working with the
EcoSchools paralleling ways that teachers, students, administrators, and families can weigh in in
the rediscovery of Nature, Forests, Carbon Sequestering, Birds and Bees, clean water, clean air,
wildlife and natural resources that surround us.
Our board member Cliff O’Connell is in preparation for the release of an ebook. A Cli-Fi (Climate
Fiction) story about life in Hawaii in the near future that asserts values and praises that helps
the O’Grady family pull through. Ebooks2go.net will be one of our distributors. It launches a
new publishing imprint we hope (Water and Power Press) that will pay for supplies, equipment,
programs, snacks, and staff for children and working parents. (Stillness in the Night in epub and
mobi files from Baker and Taylor, Nookpress, Bibliohead+3M, Kobo, Ingram Spark, Amazon
Kindle, iBooks, Overdrive, Google Play in time for summer reading. ISBN- 978-1-5457-3855-9)
We are cleaning a classroom and decorating the walls and preparing for Spring and Summer
programs that will explore how to train teachers, childcare workers, and children in the ways of
integrated instruction using past and present tools from thermometers and rulers, to ipads,
smart phones, Foss Science Kits, clay volcanoes, songs, and well researched activities that help
every learner discover the power of reading, speaking, talking and listening.
We are using the new American Digital Public library by scheduling in the Octavia Lab to create
student archives of drawings, emergent writing, and science discoveries. (named for Olivia E.
Butler, award winning Sci Fi writer and library patron in the central library that had to recover
from a fire, and keep evolving…reflecting our lapl.org mega city experience in the 20,000 square
miles of residents, urban and rural settings, and intergenerational learners!)
How Can You Help?: Text me at 818-742-5099 for a link to buy the book, send a donation by
