Covid and Costs – Two big concerns for travelers this summer and two reasons to consider travel insurance.
Covid-19 Concerns
Just this week, the CDC put Mexico on a Level 3 (high) Covid-19 warning, as cases continue to increase in that country. According to the latest buying trends from InsureMyTrip, Mexico is a top international destination for Kansas travelers.
Cost Consideration
InsureMyTrip researchers find the average cost for a trip taken in June 2022 is $6,564 (based on travel insurance policies sold). That’s up more than $2,000 from June of last year and up $1,046 from 2019 – before the pandemic.
Prepare and Protect with Travel Insurance
Contracting Covid-19 while traveling abroad is a possibility. A travel insurance plan with travel medical can offer reimbursement for unexpected/eligible medical expenses (note: most domestic health insurance policies do not cover medical bills abroad). Trip interruption or trip delay coverage can also come in handy if you’re ordered to quarantine.
Also, now that travelers are paying more for vacations, they have more to lose if they need to cancel or cut a trip short. A travel insurance policy can help protect that financial investment.
Adding the optional Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR) protection, can give travelers the flexibility to cancel their trip for something other than a covered reason – like fear of Covid-19 or the rising costs associated with travel.
