MASS SHOOTING AT GILROY GARLIC FESTIVAL
Second Amendment Foundation Calls for the end of ‘Gun-Free Zones’
Guest: Mark Walters; Spokesman for Second Amendment Foundation
Another mass shooting, this time at the Gilroy Garlic Festival in Northern California, with early reports of 3 dead and 15 injured.
Associated Press reported that festival-goers had to “pass through metal detectors and their bags are searched.” Such actions are common in gun-free zones, supposedly to ‘protect’ people from guns.
But the sad fact is that 98% of mass shootings in America happen in ‘Gun-Free Zones’. The Second Amendment Foundation has started a campaign to put an end to these ‘Gun-Free Zones’.
The foundation says the zones have perpetuated a false sense of security for more than two decades and it is time for them to come to an end.
The campaign revolves around one key message. ‘You are a sitting duck in a gun-free zone’.
Here today to discuss this campaign is broadcast media spokesman for the Second Amendment Foundation Mark Walters.
Questions:
How was the purported shooter at the festival able to fire so many shots before police shot the perpetrator, reportedly in just one minute? Why weren’t there civilian heroes shooting back during that minute, protecting their fellow festival attendees?
Why are these Gun-Free zones such a common place for mass shootings?
Schools are common Gun-Free zones. In what ways could you safely allow guns on school grounds?
Do you believe churches should be gun-free zones?
What type of training is available for teachers or church leaders or anyone for that matter, to learn how to safely use firearms?
Where may our listeners get more information on this topic and your organization?
