Michael Shawn Williams— I was born in Germany to a military family and lived in

many places throughout the United States. Both my parents

are talented musically. But, my father is a singer, composer, and musician in his own right. Like

most singers, music was not only in my home, but also in my blood. I feel privileged to say

that I not only inherited my father’s love of music but also his love of country. I served in the

United States military for eight years. It was during this time in my life, my ability to write,

sing, and perform all types of music, specifically gospel and R&B, became manifest. However,

it was not until I established roots in Virginia that I began to share my gifts. My experiences

allowed me to share with audiences as familiar as local churches to audiences in various parts of

Over the past two decades, my musical highlights have been inclusive of numerous

talent shows in high school and college, area choruses in several high schools (Colorado and

Virginia), as well as performing the National Anthem at military and sporting events. While in

college (Virginia State University), I was a member of the award winning Virginia State

University Gospel Chorale (1998-2000). I was also honored by invitations to the Intercollegiate

Music Association Workshops (1996-2000). As a diligent parishioner in my father’s church(es),

I have over six years of service as choir director (Macedonia Baptist Church– Milford, VA

2003-2006; First Baptist Church –Harrisonburg, VA 2006-2009). Most recently (2009-present),

I have the opportunity to share my abilities with Land of Promise Church in Fredericksburg, VA

(Dr. James E. King founder/pastor). I serve as a member of the praise and worship team as well

as provide valued input regarding musical arrangements for weekly services. Additionally, the

past five years have afforded me the opportunity to be a finalist in a local IDOL competition and

work with local musicians. I was the lead singer in Alter Egoz Band

http://www.facebook.com/alteregoz) from 2008-2012. This experience afforded me the

opportunity to write, record, perform original music for the band, and serve as a house band for a

local television network. Additionally, I am currently a featured vocalist with Intuition Band.

My most recent musical accolades consist of me opening for multiple shows including H-Town,

Shai, and Jagged Edge in Woodbridge, VA. While my musical career has not yet reached the

heights that I hope to one day aspire, I feel that the sky is the limit.
