Alabama Police Officer Killed in Ambush— Protecting America’s Police in a Charged Political Environment
The death of an Alabama police officer comes amid an uptick in anti-police sentiment across the country following protests and riots against police brutality and calls to defund police departments from the Black Lives Matter movement and Democratic lawmakers.
According to the FBI’s Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted database (LEOKA), fatal felony attacks on officers spiked 31.6% in early 2021. By the end of April, police departments had reported a total of 25 police officers killed in felony attacks. At the same time last year, that number was 19.
“The ongoing political persecution against America’s police officers by the Democrat party and left-wing extremist organizations all but encourages violence and harm against those sworn to protect and serve their communities.” said Michael A. Letts Founder and President of the national charity InVest which is dedicated to protecting America’s First Responders.
In the past 17 months, 250 Seattle police officers have left the force, while rioters, looters, and criminals rage in the streets. Even Seattle’s far left Democratic Mayor is calling for more police after six shootings over the weekend.
