WOULD HILLARY HAVE BEEN WORSE? The argument that Hillary Clinton would have been a better president than Barack Obama shouldn’t be accepted too quickly
TOPIC-Under Barack Obama, the world is much less safe and the future of the United States is much more precarious economically than before he took office. The rise of the Muslim Brotherhood, record unemployment, and $16 Trillion in debt has all happened on his watch. By many accounts, he has eclipsed Jimmy Carter as the worst president in American history.
Ben Barrack, conservative talk show host, writer, and author of the new book, Unsung Davids, concedes all of that but says Hillary Clinton may have been worse for different reasons. The bizarre nature of this year’s Democratic Convention is a case-in-point, he says.
“One of the biggest knocks on Obama,” says Barrack, “is that he’s too inexperienced and that’s one area in which Hillary clearly has him beat. Several years as the first lady of Arkansas, eight years in the White House and more than one term as a U.S. Senator from New York – Hillary definitely had the edge over Obama when it came to experience.”
The problem, Barrack says, is that Hillary and Barack are ideologically identical. “Obama immersed himself in the teachings of Saul Alinsky; so did Hillary. In fact, Hillary’s senior thesis was about Alinsky and the grandfather of community organizing even attempted to hire her,” Barrack said.
Barrack argues that Obama is such an in-your-face ideologue that a consequence of his presidency has been an awakening that we may not have seen under a much more politically seasoned and savvy Hillary Clinton.
“There is no question that Obama and Clinton have similar ends in mind; it’s the means that would have been different,” Barrack said. “With Obama, the mask came off very early on with the stimulus package and the Tea Party was born. Clinton likely would have been much more effective at keeping the American people politicaly tuned out.”
