it’s always a pleasure chatting with author Adrienne Rubin whose book, “Diamonds and
Scoundrels: My Life in the Jewelry Business,” is a big hit… but today we’d like to get into another aspect of her career–
as a philanthropist, as a do-gooder, as a person who cares about her fellow man…just this past Sunday evening
she was honored with the Jane Wyman Humanitarian Award at the famed Skirball Cultural Center in Los
Angeles…the presenter was the Los Angeles Arthritis Foundation because Adrienne was the top fundraiser of
the year for the group…
Listen HERE
First, Adrienne, tell us a bit about the Arthritis Foundation…how it started…why you got involved as a leading
fundraiser..and what your hopes are for treating arthritis successfully…

The Jane Wyman Award was named after the famous actress who died about 10 years ago, correct? It’s quite
an honor…

Year in and year out, over the years, you have been regarded as the top fundraiser for the L.A. Arthritis Foundation,
raising millions of dollars annually, more than anyone…naturally, because your husband was stricken with arthritis shortly after you married him 56 years ago, you have been heavily involved in trying to help find a cure for the disease
…you are to be commended for your philanthropy & humanitarianism in this regard…

I understand the Arthritis Foundation has been very helpful in attending to problems that so many young children have
been hit with–children of all ages…what sort of caring have they received?

How do you go about raising funds for the Foundation?

I understand you recently went on a rather unique 8-day California Coastal Bike Hike Tour to raise monies…tell us how
that came about and cities you visited? I also understand you didn’t know how to ride a bike until about 10 years ago,
is that correct?

And, oh, about your book, “Diamonds and Scoundrels: My Life in the Jewelry Business”–how have you tied it in with
your fund-raising? Wouldn’t it make a great movie or TV series?

I also have learned that your book recently won an IRWIN Literary award from the Book Publicists of So. Calif. for the
Best Advance Publicity Campaign of 2019–fill us in on this tribute…and what do you know about my friend, publicist
Irwin Zucker, the founder of the Book Publicists of So. Calif. who presented you with the IRWIN AWARD…

How can our listeners purchase your book? Is it in every store?

What’s your next book going to be all about?
