Barbara Knickerbocker-Beskind, 92 Yr-Old Tech Designer
Barbara Knickerbocker-Beskind is a designer and internationally recognized pioneer in the field of occupational therapy. As a conceptual designer at IDEO, she specific products that improve the quality of life for older people including an alternative walker called the “Trekker” with vertical grips to promote good posture and to maintain alternative arm-leg movements. She has also adapted ski poles to preserve good balance and gait patterns for those with vision and mobility problems.

Dr. Michal Cooney

Dr. Cooney is a New York-based retinal specialist focusing on the medical and surgical treatment of vitreoretinal diseases, particularly Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy. He is actively involved in the clinical development of new diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for vitreoretinal disease and the training of residents and fellows at Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Cooney was also a clinical site lead for both Age-related Eye Disease Studies (AREDS and AREDS2).
