Google and local partners to host hundreds of workshops during
National Small Business Week to help business owners get online and gain customers
Interviews available Monday, April 25th from 9:00-1:30 PM ET

It can be hard for small businesses to manage all of the opportunities available to them to grow their businesses online. To make things easier, Google will be partnering with local business organizations across the country to host hundreds of free, in-person workshops for National Small Business Week (May 1-7).
In interviews on Monday, April 25th, Whitney Cox or Emily Harris, Marketing Managers for Google, will discuss how small businesses can participate in a local workshop or find resources online. She will also discuss the importance of having an online web presence, how consumers can search for services, and how businesses can connect with them in the moments that matter—useful information for anyone who owns or is thinking of starting a business.
While 97 percent of Internet users look online for local products and services, only 37% of small businesses have claimed a local listing on a search engine and 55% of small businesses do not have a website. Complete business information can help generate economic value to individual communities. In small communities, this could be worth up to +$300k a year; in large cities it can be up to +$7m.
When small businesses succeed, everyone benefits. To that end, Google is encouraging everyone—citizens, communities and business owners themselves—to come together to help small businesses achieve success online during Small Business Week. They can do so by visiting google.com/smallbusiness and joining a free workshop (if they’re a small biz owner) or sending some love to a small business owner in their community (if they’re not).
