Does Kamala (Que Mala) Make a Difference?

I owe the parenthetical insert to the CEO of Goya Foods, Bob Unanue, who used the phrase when he spoke at the RNC. In discussing VP Harris, he changed her first name to the Spanish “Que Mala, or “So Bad.” Goya has an immense market in the US Hispanic population-even a Gringo like me finds Goya foods delicious.Perhaps the phrase will catch on with that growing Hispanic population.

Democratic parents now have a role model for their little daughters. In advising them of how to get ahead, they can cite Kamala Harris as an example to follow.l.They can advise them that competition as a grown-up will be intense, and urge them to do what Kamala did-sleep with a powerful man who can then spring board them to lucrative positions, perhaps even elective office.

In one sense, VP Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee, does change former President Trump’s electoral challenge-from facing a cognitively declining White 81-year old male to a 59-year old “woman of color.” Trump should connect the two of them at the hip. Every attack should be launched against the “Democratic Administration” or “Biden-Harris.” The only difference should be to highlight how much further Left she is than Biden was.

I’m sure the Trump campaign is now digging into her record as a “San Fransisco Democrat”, a phrase coined by the late Ambassador Jeanne Kirkpatrick in the 1984 RNC. She was a friend of mine and former professor. It was perhaps the key takeaway from the RNC of that year. Kamala Harris is even further to the radical Left than were her San Francisco colleagues of that era.Trump and company should link the crime wave permeating the country with the Biden-Harris border disaster. In countering her experience as a prosecutor, they can point out that she was the same type of prosecutor then as the George Soros-supported District Attorneys who have are now coddling criminals, including muderers. There is a pile of evidence to place her on the defensive, including how she raised bail for those jailed for violence in Minnesota in 2020.

The attacks that were coming from Trump against Biden need not change. Perhaps Trump could even wonder aloud if there was a “Russian collusion” with Biden-Harris, because Russia is now far richer since they came the White House than when Trump left office. Moscow is financing its war in Ukraine with the profits from sky-high oil prices resulting from Biden-Harris reducing the amount of US oil on the world market. A simple case of limiting supply drives up prices.Trump could say that will change on Day one of the Trump Administration, and US drivers will pay less at the pump, while Russia and Iran will see their oi; profits decline.

Turning to domestic politics, Republicans must be prepared for Harris to have a significant bounce when the Democrat Convention ends, and a lead in the polls. In 1988, Michael Dukakis had a lead of 17 points over George H.W Bush after the Democrat jConvention. Bush then launched a relentless attack against the ultra-liberal Massachusetts Governor, and won the election by eight points in the popular vote and 426 to111 in the Electoral college. So, just as Trump shouted “Fight, Fight” after the assasination attempt, Republican must “Attack, Attack” through November 5.
