Navigate Food Labels to Eat Well and Spend Less
WHAT: With so many trends in the food space, it’s often difficult to tell which ingredients we should pay attention to, and which we should avoid. Does paying more for food mean it’s safer or better for you? Not necessarily. Labels and ingredients are complex and confusing… and becoming even more of a growing concern for shoppers who want to eat right without breaking the bank.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, nutrition expert Tara Gidus Collingwood is on hand and available to show, tell and discuss easy ways to identify the right information to make more informed food choices, and purchase food you can feel good about while saving money.
Specifically, Tara will review:
· Don’t Break the Bank – Making good choices does not have to mean spending more money; Tara will offer advice on seeking out high quality food at a low cost.
· Staying Selective – Tara will offer advice on choosing wisely, which will include information surrounding the latest trends as well as common misconceptions.
· Understanding Product Profiles – Nutritional profiles are ever-changing and typically overwhelming, Tara will clarify profiles and de-bunk common perceptions around ingredients like added MSG, trans fats and artificial colors.

Tara is also a spokesperson and is quoted in a variety of media including television, radio, newspapers, magazines, and websites and is a past National Media Spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. She helps senior executives from Fortune 500 companies manage their energy in her role as a nutrition and movement coach at the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute.
