      Recognized for the lyrical content, thoughtfulness, electrifying wordplay and sincerity he injects into his southern approach to hip hop / rap, Southernaire, also known as South to most, stood out among the masses of up-and-coming artists trying to break out nationally under his independent label, The Southern Gentleman’s Club Music Group. Born Tarrence Deon Johnson on May 16, 1982, in the second biggest city in the state of Georgia, Augusta GA, he grew up under the influence of his parents, Emmett and Deborah Johnson, pastors who tried to lead Southernaire down the path of the straight and narrow. Therefore, South grew up in the church, but was still tempted to indulge in acts that contradicted what was taught there. Southernaire was exposed to many aspects of the street life, also known as “the trap”, and the interactions of opened minded suburbia, the influence of which can be heard in the lyrics of his music.
