Has the media’s double-standard on political commentary gone way too far?
Just last month, Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham faced an organized advertiser boycott simply for accusing David Hogg of “whining” about his failure to be admitted to key universities. Led by the George Soros-funded Media Matters, the resulting campaign resulted in at least two dozen advertisers abandoning her show.

Yet something far worse occurred yesterday on left-wing rival MSNBC, with host Nichole Wallace asking a correspondent (referring to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders), “How do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck? Why can’t she just say if a staffer said that, we’re going to get to the bottom of it and she’ll be fired?”

“The Media Equality Project defends the First Amendment and stands with Sarah Huckabee Sanders. But we will not support Wallace’s violent and abusive rhetoric. Where is the left’s outrage here?” asked MEP Co-Founder Brian Maloney.

Wallace called for choking Sanders as a form of retribution for not answering a question to her expectations. And just last week, CNN’s April Ryan and the Baltimore Mayor challenged the latter to a street fight. This type of hateful and violent rhetoric on a national platform should not be condoned.

“In this environment, televised support for violence is simply not acceptable. We are calling on sponsors to discontinue advertising with MSNBC and Wallace. What if Ingraham had called for Hogg to be choked?” asked MEP Co-Chair Megan Barth.

And while Wallace apologized earlier today, we would note that Ingraham did as well, yet still faced an ongoing boycott campaign. This double-standard in today’s media can no longer be tolerated.
