An epidemic is plaguing our younger generation, and no cure is in sight. Selfies have emerged as the contaminant of a narcissistic era; the average millennial will take more than 25,000 selfies in their lifetime. So how come 80 percent of women admit that looking in the mirror makes them feel bad? According to life coach Seline Shenoy, we need to stop the madness before it’s too late.
“Most women have not received the right form of guidance while growing up,” says Shenoy. “Therefore, we’re not immune to negative social conditioning when it comes to a woman’s value in society, especially during younger and more impressionable ages.”
In an engaging and thought-provoking interview, Shenoy can discuss:
Why initiatives launched by Dove and Cover Girl to uplift women and have failed at creating a lasting impression and are “band-aid” solutions to the problem
Media Responsibility: Four changes the media can make to create a more welcoming and accepting society
Poor body image and low self-worth: The detrimental influence this has on every aspect of a woman’s life, and how to help them realize they deserve more
Tips and tricks for recognizing your unique brand of beauty, embracing your power, and making your mark on the world
The social media factor: Has this helped—or hurt—the way women view their looks and bodies?
Igniting the beauty revolution: What we need to do as individuals—and as a society—in order to truly redefine our obsession with appearance
