Is this Legal? is a memoir about the creation of the First UFC from the man who created it [Art Davie]. Published by Ascend Books, it’s a 271 page personal history of Davie’s four-year crusade to turn an advertising idea for a client into a sporting event, pitting martial artists against each other in a no-holds barred tournament, which became the UFC.

This is a no-holds barred, tell-all book about the executives, film stars, fighters, partners, staff and politicians who helped or tried to stop what became the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA).

Everything Davie (and co-author Sean Wheelock) couldn’t fit into the book is here on this website including documents, letters, contracts and photos. If you enjoy the book, this site will help you get even more out of the early history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
