PUBLIUS SPECIAL GUEST: Jeremy Murphy, author of F*ck Off, Chloe: Surviving the OMGs! and FMLs! in Your Media Career.

A laugh-out-loud account of working in media!

Public relations’ snarkiest publicist Jeremy Murphy expertly chronicles his hatred, love, indifference, amusement, and scorn for the profession in F*ck Off, Chloe. From entitled millennials to surly reporters, obnoxious clients, and cumbersome, color-coded “trackers,” Murphy takes a scalpel and glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the PR industry in a searing, hilarious, and pissy voice that his own psychiatrist finds “deeply concerning.” His collection of annoyances shed light on the industry’s idiosyncrasies, insanities, contradictions, and past due invoices, providing an illuminating window into the dirty world of public relations not even Xanax can help. Complementing the scathing prose are color-in illustrations by artist Darren Greenblatt, creator of the “Ugly Lives of Beautiful People” sketch series.

Henry M. Silvert, author of
“An Indelible Event
and Detour Through a Global Childhood”
looks back on his miraculous recovery from a near fatal car crash south of the border and how he not only survived but thrived against all odds to create a full life that transcended his initial tragedy. This is an incredible story that you won’t want to miss!
  Description—–
At the age of 6, Henry Silvert was in a car crash on a country road in Mexico that would change his life forever. Before the accident, he had been an ornery, creative, precocious, and somewhat nerdy kid who enjoyed practicing the violin and playing bridge. The injuries he experienced were life threatening, but, as his doctor said after an initial exam, “This boy doesn’t know how to die!” An Indelible Event shows how this stubbornness and will to live fueled a recovery that required him to relearn how to walk, eat, and speak. Silvert details an adventurous childhood spent in a number of South American countries and his experiences with political activism and prejudice during his high school years in Hanover, New Hampshire. He also delves into his intellectual awakening and pursuit of a life in the social sciences. Ultimately, An Indelible Event depicts how Silvert’s own optimism and the support he received from his family and friends helped him create a full life that transcended his initial tragedy.
About the author—-
Henry M. Silvert, Ph.D., was born in Philadelphia in 1948, did his undergraduate, 1967-1971, and doctoral studies at New York University, 1976-1985, and read for a Bachelor of Philosophy degree In Latin American area studies at the University of Oxford, 1971-1974. He spent his childhood years living and attending elementary schools in New Orleans, Guatemala City, Mexico City, Santiago, and Buenos Aires. He spent his high school years at Hanover High School in Hanover, New Hampshire. As a survey associate and statistician, Dr. Silvert worked at The Conference Board for 23 years until his retirement and co-authored several reports regarding business matters. Previously he worked on projects ranging from childhood hunger to drug use and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. As a visiting professor at The Colegio de Mexico, Dr. Silvert taught comparative politics of Latin America and, as an adjunct professor, teaching various sociology classes in New York City.
