G-Star Film Students go Where the Goat Things Are; SerenityGoats.com
Palms Springs, Florida, March 16, 2016—G-Star School of the Arts (www.GStarSchool.org) students take film to Where The Goat Things Are, Serenity Acres Farm & Goat Dairy (www.SerenityGoats.com).
Four G-Star School of the Arts students; Ben Aubrey, Cheyenne Thompson-Covington, Abby Longhofer and Angela Nero hit the road this weekend with mentor, George Colavecchio, to film a documentary; Organic Dairy Goat Farming.
Students arrived on the grounds of Serenity Acres Farm & Goat Dairy, in Pinetta, Florida, and were immediately smitten with the farm and its residents. The entire film Project was done in a 2 day timespan.
“The students truly enjoyed the experience of animals, the opportunity to explore and film the entire operation there as well as the back to basics aspect of living that we all tend to forget,” said George Colavecchio. “The family style working and living truly shows in all the happy animals on the farm,” Colavecchio added.
The film trip project included every aspect from animal husbandry, milking, yogurt and cheese making and the production of soaps and lotions that are marketed locally, nationally and internationally. The farm is home to over 60 goats, 100 chickens, 3 horses, a small Black Angus herd and the “guardians” a pack of 8 Great Pyrenees dogs that roam the property keeping the livestock safe from predators and intruders.
The Serenity Acres Farm is also home to a staff of “Wwoofers” (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms), volunteers from around the world that gain experience working on an organic farm in return for room and board. Not only did the student crew have an opportunity to use their film and production skills in a truly unique setting, but they experienced a weekend they will never forget, making new friends and spending time away from the hustle and bustle of South Florida in a nurturing rural environment.
“Bringing in a film crew is something we’ve wanted to do for awhile and once we found a great fit, decided to go for it, G-Star School of the Arts aligned perfectly with us since many of our farm staff are recent students,” said Julia Shewchuk, Owner & Founder of Serenity Acres Farm & Goat Dairy. “It was such a great feeling watching and working with the film students to capture all our special moments on the farm,” added Shewchuck.
