Researchers say a recently-identified chemical compound called BCP found in cannabis and other aromatic plants can calm your mind, relieve chronic pain, and produce a host of “remarkable pharmacological effects”
Hailed by natural medicine advocates for its many reported therapeutic properties, cannabidiol [canna-bih-DIE-ol] (CBD) oil has soared in sales to become one of the health food industry’s hottest dietary supplements. Extracted from the flowers and buds of marijuana or hemp plants, CBD has been shown to be an effective non-toxic natural treatment for dozens of health challenges – from anxiety to sleep apnea to epilepsy.
Now, researchers at Bonn University have discovered a powerful new molecule naturally occurring in cannabis and other aromatic herbs. The molecule, scientifically designated beta caryophyllene [carry-oh-FILL-een] (or BCP for short), is being hailed as nature’s most potent activator of the body’s key neurological pathways — and perhaps the most crucial and powerful of all 80-plus known cannabis compounds, (called cannabinoids).
“We have discovered that the presence of BCPs in our daily diet is critical for overall wellness and optimal health,” says medicinal plant expert Dr. Cass Ingram, author of The Cannabis Cure. “These compounds are needed to keep the neurological pathways open and functioning in all key organ systems, including the brain, spinal cord, thyroid gland, adrenal glands, ovaries, testes, heart, spleen, intestines, and lymphatic cells.”
BCP modulates dozens of functions within our bodies, including:
· control of inflammation
· reduction of stress and anxiety
· regulates immune function
· enhances circulation
· stimulates digestion
· improves overall neurological function
Dietary sources of BCP:
Black Pepper Basil Parsley Wild Sage
Wild Rosemary Cloves Cinnamon Whole Hemp extract
Wild Oregano Hops peppers
Health challenges that respond to increased dietary BCP
Insomnia:
Plants rich in the compound BCP like cannabis, cinnamon, holy basil, wild oregano, and hops are among the most effective treatments for sleep disorders and play a key role in inducing a sense of calm or relaxation. Wild oregano oil may be used topically as a rub over the chest and lower neck area to effectively induce sleep in a troubled sleeper. Usual dosage consists of 5 drops of hemp and wild oregano extract. .
Hypertension:
In addition to resetting and balancing brain and nerve function, BCP’s interaction with the body’s CB2 neuro-receptors causes a relaxation and dilation of blood vessels, thereby improving the delivery of blood to the tissues:
Depression & Anxiety:
There is no better natural remedy for chronic depression than the BCP, CBD, and the other cannabinoids found in hemp extract. Other sources of these compounds which have a vast history for the treatment of acute and chronic anxiety and depression include basil, wild oregano, wild rosemary, wild sage, and hops.
Migraine headaches:
The essential oil vapors of BCP can be transmitted from the nose into the brain through a paper thin barrier called the Cribiform plate, exerting BCP’s therapeutic effects. BCP’s anti-inflammatory actions can decrease swelling in scalp, neck, and shoulder tissues: To treat headaches take raw hemp- and wild oregano complex under the tongue as often as necessary. Additionally, rub this complex on the forehead.
Drug & alcohol addiction:
BCP-rich raw cannabis extract with wild hemp is one of the most potent therapeutic agents for quelling the urge to get high and for reversing addiction.
Chronic pain syndromes:
BCP-rich herbs and spices, such as rosemary, sage, basil, cloves, oregano, cannabis, and others, have a long history in the use against pain syndromes and inflammatory diseases. Five or more drops of whole wild oregano/whole hemp extract under the tongue three times daily while also using the oil vigorously as a topical rub provides a rapid alleviation of symptoms in most cases.
“It has been shown that people can improve most physical conditions by consuming foods, spices, and herbs containing the powerful active ingredient beta caryophyllene, or BCP,” says Dr. Ingram. “BCP’s efficacy increases when consumed with other naturally-occurring cannabinoid compounds, a phenomenon known as the entourage effect. This increase in efficacy is created through the consumption of whole plant extracts containing the full spectrum of naturally-occurring cannabinoids, rather than by supplementing the diet with only a single cannabinoid, such as BCP or CBD by itself.”
