The Epoch Times’ Nan Su discusses how China could very well overshadow this week’s world summit.

Japan is hosting several leaders at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima. However, it appears that China is trying to get some influence on the event as it takes place.

First off, several members of the Summit are already looking into how China uses its “economic coercion” against other countries. During a press conference, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen noted that several of these countries joined the U.S. in expressing concern over this financial strength. As a result, it may be looking to impose targeted restrictions on outbound investment to China, which may not sit easy with Xi Jinping and the CCP (Chinese Communist Party).

To make matters worse, the country is also making moves with its military. CNN recently reported that a Chinese naval flotilla led by a powerful destroyer has been working its way around Japan’s main islands, adding further tension to not only Japan, but also Taiwan – a country it has continuously harassed for control over the past few years. This stems from “Japan’s recent provocative remarks” about Taiwan, according to the report.

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida responded to the matter, stating that “the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is critical not just for our country, but for the whole international community.”

So how will China’s involvement in the G7 Summit go this week? Joining us now to discuss this further is Nan Su, an investigative senior journalist for The Epoch Times. His knowledge in all things China will prove very useful for this subject.
