TOPIC-The inflated Cost Of Cancer Treatment
Stephen J. Iacoboni, MD., Oncologist, Care Advocate, Author
Cancer treatment is big business. Cancer care ads comfort us and the big drug companies advertise their new products.
Behind the scene is the fact that less profitable-but-effective, generic cancer drugs are under produced … and the reason is MONEY!!!
A generic drug sells for $50-$100 per dose, and a new drug sells for $2,000-$3,000 per dose, …. you do the math … they sure did!
Facing Cancer treatment is a difficult task made all the worse by gruesome side effects. While encouraged by today’s news of stem cell technology shielding side effects, the unnecessary shortage of effective Chemotherapy drugs drives costs up and patient care down.
