Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is a Turkish politician who is the 12th and current president of Turkey since 2014. He previously served as the 25th prime minister from 2003 to 2014 as part of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), which he co-founded in 2001. He also served as mayor of Istanbul from 1994 to 1998.
Erdoğan led the AKP to a landslide victory in the election for the Grand National Assembly in 2002, and became prime minister in 2003. Erdoğan led the AKP to two more election victories in 2007 and 2011.
His tenure reversed most of Kamal Ataturk’s (the founder of the Turkish Republic after the fall of the Ottoman Empire in 1919) secular legacies, which made Turkey more democratic and less Islamic. Erdogan made Islamic Sharia more dominant thus reversing almost all the advantages that Turks had before his rise to power.
While at the early stages of his rule, he was able to reduce inflation and increase the economy, his about face regarding his support for Islamic Jihad scared many industries from investing in Turkey.
He picked fights with Greece – a NATO member – and has had on/off love/hate affairs with Israel. As a committed Muslim, he can never be a loyal partner with no-Muslims/Kuffar/ Infidels; especially Jews and Christians. The only reason he wanted to be part of the European Union was both diabolical and political, so as to allow him to flood Europe with millions of Muslims, thus changing it demographically and politically to overturn their governments from within.
For the last 100 years, Muslims have been using the freedoms given to them by the Christian West to undermine every host nation with the obscene but unfathomable fact that most of the leaders of these Christian countries colluded and continue to do so, even today in a spiral of self-destruction.
Since he has been in almost absolute power for 20 plus years, corruption, incompetence, suppression of a free press, putting opponents in prison using kangaroo trials, making catastrophic economic decisions and spreading conflict in many parts of the Middle East, have caused dire consequences to the everyday Turkish people.
I shall forever repeat the following realities embedded in Islamic Sharia, that escape the low intelligence of most Quran ignorant Western leaders: It is impossible, and must repeat impossible, for any Sharia compliant Muslim, to be BOTH a Good Muslim as well as a Loyal citizen among Kuffar; moreover, Muslims are forbidden from ever Integrating and or Assimilating with Kuffar.
This is why he attacked Christian Greece – NATO member – and repeatedly double-crossed Jewish Israel and almost all Turks in Europe have their loyalty to Islam and NOT to the citizens who gave them shelter and freedom.
Once more I need to point out what should be obvious, Muslims use our own laws and freedoms to subvert and destroy us from within, with the full support of our totally clueless leaders.
As a true Islamist, he is convinced that Turkey should again become the Caliphate of the Muslim Umma, ignoring the reality that no Arab nation would ever accept such a preposterous idea.
İmamoğlu, the mayor of Istanbul, was expected to be named on Sunday as the Republican People’s Party candidate for Turkey’s next presidential election.
He was detained early Wednesday on a prosecutor’s order over deliberately trumped- up allegations of corruption, including the rigging of tenders and bribery, as well as having alleged links to a terrorist organisation so as to deny him the chance to oppose Erdogan.
İmamoğlu is in his second term as the popular mayor of İstanbul, a city of 16 million and Turkey’s economic centre. He was detained along with at least 100 others, including municipal officials, journalists and businessmen in an act reminiscent of Nazism or Communism when they intended to silence any opposition.
Markets in Turkey were thrown into turmoil on Wednesday after the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, the leading political opposition figure, with the stock exchange, lira and bonds all recording sharp losses.
After news broke of his detention, the Turkish lira fell by as much as 12 percent at one point, hitting a record low of 42 to the US dollar. The Boursa (stock exchange) of Istanbul was forced to suspend trading soon after the opening bell, having fallen just over 7 percent.
The megalomaniacal Erdogan, underestimated the brewing magma of discontent among millions of Turks with his dictatorial, endemic corruption and economically failing rule. Instead of dealing with inflation at home and the economy, he wasted billions of dollars on igniting foreign interventions – Libya, Syria, Iraq, Gaza – to bolster his own image as a world leader.
Tens of thousands of enraged and unhappy citizens, in Ankara (the capital), Istanbul (commercial centre), Izmir and other cities, are demanding the unconditional release of the mayor and or the removal of Erdogan.
So far, the citizens are ignoring the government order to cease demonstrating. How long and how many more may join the fight, remains to be seen. For sure, the more the police oppress, the more citizens will join the fight, especially if the university students join the uprising, then matters get really dangerous for the regime.
As always with undemocratic states, the police are used as the front line in defence of the rotten regime with the military as a backup. Only if the armed forces go against their citizens can Erdogan survive.
Considering the history of Turkey, it is possible that a high-ranking general would take this excellent opportunity of instability and popular rage, to declare himself the ‘saviour’ of the Republic, promising the release of the mayor and holding fair elections so as to overthrow Erdogan from within. Let us wait and see.
