Glen Williams Author, Speaker, Trainer, Communication Coach, Trauma & PTSD Expert, and Retired Police Officer & Detective, Is Available For In Person & Virtual Speaking Engagements, Workshops, Group / Panel Q & A Discussions, “Lunch n Learn” Health & WellBeing Events and Media Appearances.
Glen is a retired Police Officer and Detective, who personally knows first hand just how devastating and destructive trauma and PTSD can be!
When Glen faced his trauma, he learned to restructure it—and made it safe to talk about. So safe that he wrote a book and designed a curriculum to help other public safety workers and trauma survivors do the same. He now travels the country speaking about his journey. It is his mission to assist police departments and public agencies, in supporting their officers and staff to reduce the effects of PTSD—and prevent divorce and suicide.
Glen’s incredible book ” Bridging The Gap” takes readers on a police officer’s journey from optimistic rookie to jaded veteran and shares traumatic events he experienced and how they developed into PTSD.
He describes how he built walls to protect himself, stopped communicating, and how this led to two divorces. Glen then talks about how he relearned to open up, communicate openly and develop the good relationship he now lives in. Bridging the Gap gives ways to deal with and reduce stress and ways to take traumatic events and rephrase them so they can be shared safely, thus, bridging the gap in communication that has been created.
Glen is also featured in the impactful and award winning Documentary, “Is There Something Going On At Home?”
‘Scrambling and scrambling, working to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me and in my community. The life of a law enforcement professional. Work, family, work, self care, part time work to take care of our families. Then add everyday problems like a sick child or spouse or parent. In the past the first thing I let go was self care, then family as I worked more and more and talked less and less. Gradually the relationship died and after 19 years, ended in divorce and bankruptcy. Hindsight is 20/20 and I look at the decisions I made that led to the one thing I and most officers don’t want. Divorce. I could blame it on PTSD but let’s be accountable. They were my decisions. It took time but I learned, changed, and rebuilt my life. This problem is shown openly and honestly in the award winning documentary “Is There Something Going On At Home?” Take a look at how our behaviors change and the effects on our families’. – Glen Williams
