Patrick Dorinson the “Common Sense Cowboy”
THE COMMON SENSE COWBOY’S GUIDE TO LIFE
STORIES FROM THE OLD GUY AT THE END OF THE BAR
By Patrick Dorinson
with Mathew Klickstein
“When you’re running out of sunsets, don’t waste the sunrises you have left.”
Patrick “The Common Sense Cowboy” Dorinson welcomes you to hop on the stool next to him for 70 years of life stories, a coupla insights, and maybe even a laugh or two from “the old guy at the end of the bar.” Whether your poison is a fresh, cold beer, a shot of whiskey, or maybe just a soda water and lime, THE COMMON SENSE COWBOY’S GUIDE TO LIFE will shed new light on the ups and downs we all go through together across this glorious nation of ours. In the vein of such modern classics as Chicken Soup for the Soul and Tuesdays with Morrie, this book will hopefully lend a little extra guidance during these tumultuous days to those seeking it… along with some relatable tales of faith, failure, redemption, and enduring passion for being the best version of oneself possible.

The Common Sense Cowboy’s 12 Rules for Life:
- The secret to a long life is getting up every day with a purpose. Young or old, working or retired, everyone needs a purpose, so find yours.
-
Never betray trust, because trust is like virginity. Once lost, it’s impossible to get back.
-
Everything breaks sooner or later. So, learn how to fix things.
-
The measure of a man is when he does the right thing even when no one is watching. If you do the wrong thing and nobody saw you do it, it’s still wrong.
-
Don’t waste time thinking about what might have been. Put the “might have beens” in the same trash can reserved for the “wouldas,” the “shouldas” and the “couldas.” Then get busy with the “doin.”
-
A fancy education might gain you some knowledge, but only hard life experiences will gain you wisdom. A PhD won’t help you fix a flat tire.
-
Be wary of the person who tells you they can get you a burger and fries for nothing. There is no free lunch.
-
Your word is your bond, and your handshake seals the deal.
-
If you shake hands with a politician, be sure to count your fingers when you let go to make sure you still have all five.
-
Don’t pray for things. The Almighty is not Amazon or Costco and faith delivers salvation and comfort, not packages.
-
There is right and there is wrong. There are no loopholes and the only thing in between are excuses.
-
The Good Lord gave us each a certain number of seconds, minutes, hours and days, but he didn’t give us our expiration date. Use your time wisely and live life to the fullest.
IT’S TIME TO COWBOY UP AND START RIDIN’ FENCES!
“Some books give good advice, some bad. This book gives good advice – something you might want to read, absorb and put into practice. I hope that, in reading the book before you, you may acquire a few more strategies for how to avoid the bad things, do the good things… and hopefully have a few laughs along the way.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Patrick Dorinson is know as the “Common Sense Cowboy” and has lived and endured through the course of his seven-plus decades on this planet as a maverick, a dreamer, a schemer and – most appropriately for the purposes of this bio – a communicator. Dorinson is an accomplished author, speaker, Newsmax and Fox News contributor who, for nearly a decade, was host of his own The Cowboy Libertarian radio show on iHeart media’s Sacramento-based KFBK. Although he takes pride in the fact that renowned conservative talk show stalwart Rush Limbaugh had his start at the same station, Dorinson takes further pride still in the fact that throughout his lengthy career, he has worked with equal passion and grit on both sides of the aisle. Aspiring toward being something of a modern-day Will Rogers (with a twinkly-eyed twist of Mark Twain), Dorinson transmits his thoughtful dispatches via his popular https://ridinfences.com/ platform, continuing to tell the stories of regular folks who do most of the heavy lifting in America today. Dorinson is proud to have worked on ranch crews, won buckles in cow work competitions and been a campfire teller of tales both tall and small alike.

United States Withdraws from UN Women, Cuts Funding as the War on Men Intensifies
Edward Bartlett, Founder of SAVE, an organization focused on fairness and due process on college campuses.
January 13, 2026 President Donald Trump last week issued Executive Order 14199: Withdrawing the United States from International Organizations, Conventions, and Treaties that Are Contrary to the Interests of the United States (1). The Order calls for the cessation of all US government funding to UN Women, which amounts to about $18 million per year (2).
The Executive Order comes amidst growing public awareness of the problem of The Great Feminization. First identified by author Helen Andrews, The Great Feminization refers to the growing number of institutions that have come under the sway of feminist norms and group dynamics that resort to ostracism and social exclusion to achieve social conformity. “The Great Feminization is truly unprecedented,” Andrews warns. “No civilization in human history has ever experimented with letting women control so many vital institutions of our society.” (3)
What is less recognized is the extent to which UN Women has orchestrated the expansion of The Great Feminization around the globe.
Established in 2010, UN Women is the United Nations agency charged with working for gender equality and female empowerment. But from the very beginning, UN Women has corrupted the meaning of these words:
Gender Equality: Men are now lagging behind women on 12 major indicators, such as lifespan, college enrollments, homelessness, and many others (4). But UN Women has consistently refused to acknowledge even the existence of these areas of gender inequality.
Female Empowerment: UN Women imposed a Marxist definition of this goal, one that seeks to impose rigid gender mandates on every aspect of society. But the truth is, the vast majority of women have no desire to become well-diggers, truck drivers, or construction workers.
Growing numbers of women have begun to engage in active opposition to the feminist crusade. Last month, scholar Carrie Gress issued a stinging rebuke of feminist ideology, charging the movement has evolved into a secular “megachurch” with its own doctrines, rituals, and sacraments (5).
The evil of UN Women goes beyond the corruption of key concepts. UN Women is aggressively involved in the vilification of men. For example, numerous surveys have found that men are frequent targets of online harassment:
Australia: A survey by Anastasia Powell concluded, “Overall, men and women were just as likely to report experiencing digital harassment and abuse.” (6)
Norway: A large scale TNS Gallup survey found, “Contrary to popular expectations, we find that more men than women have experienced online harassment.” (7)
United Kingdom: Digital security firm Norton reported that 54% of men and 50% of women reported being targeted by some form of abuse or harassment online (8).
United States: A 2021 Pew poll found that 43% of men and 38% of women reported being harassed online (9)
Callously ignoring these findings, UN Women launched an aggressive campaign in November to stop what it called “online violence.” The group’s Twitter posts always featured images of women that never once hinted at the existence of male victims of online harassment.
For years, UN Women has engaged in an assault on the social order comprised of men, women, children, and families. UN Ambassadors and other officials now need to bring an end to these severe abuses, or witness the continued decline in the ability of the United Nations to be a force for global peace, justice, and gender equality.

Rahway Activists Appeal Anti-SLAPP Ruling | Retaliatory Lawsuit Over Facebook Political Speech?
Longtime Rahway residents Alan R. Levy and Lisa S. Vandever are appealing a lower court decision allowing a counterclaim to proceed against them despite New Jersey’s Anti-SLAPP law — the Uniform Public Expression Protection Act (UPEPA).
The couple, politically active community members and participants in the 20,000-member Facebook group Rahway Community Voice, allege they were permanently banned for criticizing local elected officials ahead of the 2024 election.
After filing suit under New Jersey constitutional protections and the legal doctrine established in Pruneyard Shopping Ctr. v. Robins, the case escalated into a countersuit accusing them of “Malicious Abuse of Process.”
They now argue the counterclaim itself violates UPEPA and constitutes retaliation for protected political speech and petitioning activity.
The appeal raises a fundamental question:
👉 Will New Jersey’s Anti-SLAPP law protect citizens who criticize political power — or can lawsuits still be used to silence dissent?

At Saturday’s press conference, President Trump said the U.S. will “run the country” for now, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Maduro “f’d around and found out.” (The Hill live updates:
https://thehill.com/homenews/5670738-us-military-venezuela-strike-live-updates/amp/) Get McConkey’s take on the constitutionality of the capture and Trump’s plan to run Venezuela, and whether Hegseth’s comments would bring condemnation to the administration.
Why McConkey now: Dr. McConkey brings 23 years of military service and senior command experience with direct relevance to the national security implications of Venezuela—especially the intersection of regional stability, transnational crime, and U.S. strategic interests. He served as aircrew in a squadron tasked with drug interdiction operations in the Caribbean (near Venezuela), where counter-narcotics missions overlapped with broader security realities that still shape the region. He also commanded an Aeromedical Staging Squadron and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, offering a grounded view of operational objectives, second-order effects, and what “success” looks like after the headlines.
As Emergency Management Officer for the National Capital Region and Liaison Officer for Defense Support of Civil Authorities, Col. Josh McConkey has direct, hands-on experience in DC with this scenario. The Air Force Colonel and National Guard veteran—who just received the Legion of Merit, one of the nation’s highest military honors earlier this month “for exceptionally meritorious conduct and outstanding service to the United States Air Force”
Dr. McConkey brings rare dual perspective on both the operational realities and policy implications of Trump’s DC takeover. Plus, Col. McConkey is also an Emergency Room Physician and former military doc who can discuss the medical realities of relocating DC’s homeless population, many of whom suffer multiple physical, mental and substance abuse addiction issues.
About The Expert:
Dr. (Colonel) Josh McConkey is the Pulitzer prize nominated, award-winning author of “Be The Weight Behind The Spear”. He has practiced medicine across America and in some of the world’s most dangerous hotspots. Col. McConkey has served as a professor at Duke University and is Commander of the 459th Aeromedical Staging Squadron in the U.S. Air Force Reserves at Andrews Air Force Base.
